With the expansion of the business into Europe from 2009 onwards, new specialists for the Central and Eastern European markets joined the company. Around ten years later, recruitment efforts began in preparation for entering the Latin American market. In 2021, the company entered the Middle East region, followed shortly afterwards by South, Southeast and East Asia, and in 2024 took what was, for the time being, the final step into the Middle East and North African markets with its life and health reinsurance business. Each of these moves into previously untapped markets brought new colleagues with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds to Deutsche Rück.  

Today, in the anniversary year 2026, colleagues from 16 different nationalities enrich the company culture with a wide variety of languages.

Finding qualified professionals is difficult. To attract talent from Germany and abroad, companies must position themselves as attractive employers. Deutsche Rück has succeeded in doing so. In 2025, Great Place to Work awarded the company the quality seal “Germany’s Best Employers 2025” for the third time after 2016 and 2021.  

The award reflects the company’s strong commitment to fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within the organisation. It is based on an anonymous and representative employee survey covering topics such as trust in leadership, team spirit, fairness, appreciation, respect and identification with the company. In addition, Great Place to Work surveys the management as part of a culture audit.

Even more important than the award itself is the company culture lived in practice. Over the years, Deutsche Rück has continued to evolve while never losing sight of its roots. It has succeeded in combining 75 years of corporate tradition with the modern working world. In 2023, employees ultimately formalised this development and future-oriented mindset under the motto “For One Another. With One Another.” in a new mission statement.
